Statement: Llanelli flies update

Llanelli flies infestation

Investigations into the recent increase in fly activity in the Glanymor ward of Llanelli have substantiated that a source is AMG Resources Limited, a site permitted and regulated by Natural Resources Wales (NRW).

Working closely with Carmarthenshire County Council, we have undertaken extensive investigations and evidence gathering to identify this source of the increased fly activity and inform the action being taken.

We have issued an enforcement notice requiring the operator to take action to address issues relating to the management of waste on site and bring operations back into compliance with the conditions of its permit.

The operator has been given 21 days to implement the required measures and bring the matter under control.

We recognise the significant impact this issue is having on residents and the wider community. The situation is being closely monitored, and we will continue to drive efforts to secure a swift and lasting resolution for local residents.

Advice for residents and businesses on how to manage the situation is available from Carmarthenshire County Council: https://newsroom.carmarthenshire.gov.wales/2026/7/additional-information-on-fly-nuisances/
